Alicia Cannon, Government Relations Associate
As Government Relations Associate, Alicia assists the Merchant McIntyre team with client service, federal grants development, and legislative strategies.
Before her employment at MM, Alicia served as the Program Assistant for Sustainable Energy and Environment at the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL). She advocated for the preservation of the environment and the enactment of sustainable environmental and climate legislation. She met regularly with Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to promote FCNL's environmental policy.
Alicia has also worked in the House of Representatives for Congressman Alan Lowenthal as one of the 12 prestigious Victory Congressional Interns. On Capitol Hill, she worked with legislative aides to draft legislation and write memoranda regarding civil rights, public health and defense policies.
Alicia's commitment to helping others started with her family's nonprofit, the AJ Donohue Foundation. The Foundation, started by her cousin AJ after he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, supports individuals, institutions, and families afflicted by or addressing pediatric cancer.
Originally from South Brunswick, NJ, Alicia graduated magna cum laude from Villanova University with a B.A. in Political Science and minors in Theology and Irish Studies. In her final year, Alicia was appointed to the Villanova Supreme Court where she provided a voice for the upperclassmen when revolutionizing the Student Bill of Rights and the Student Handbook.
